Sustainability and Climate Change

ESA is at the forefront of addressing climate change within emerging regulatory frameworks at the national, state, and local levels. We have been a leader and innovator in using the California Environmental Quality Act as a tool for greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Our pioneering work includes establishing significance thresholds, examining the climate change benefits of project and program alternatives, and encouraging smart growth.

We develop climate action plans and carbon strategies based on accurate emissions inventories, benchmarking, stakeholder input, and a thorough knowledge of programs and policies that effectively reduce emissions. We integrate sustainability and climate action into the comprehensive and general planning processes to ensure local compliance with emerging state and federal regulations.
