Caltrans Airport Land Use Handbook Image

The California Department of Transportation's official guidance to Airport Land Use Commissions for compatibility planning, the Caltrans Airport Land Use Handbook, was in need of an update.

ESA managed a large multidisciplinary team of technical experts to review, develop, and update content relied on by Airport Land Use Commissions and local governments having jurisdiction over land use surrounding airports. Under the direction of the Division of Aeronautics, our team facilitated the review and input from a technical advisory committee. We ensured a broad array of planning challenges were addressed in the updated handbook, and managed the State's first public review process for the Handbook, reviewing and compiling comments for Caltrans.

ESA's skillful leadership facilitated content review, managed edits and input from a large group of consultants and stakeholders, and coordinated meetings and comments from a technical advisory committee. The updated Handbook is available on the Caltrans Division of Aeronautics website.
